Home Inspiration | White & Pops Of Colour

Oct 8, 2014

Thanks for all the health well wishes, guys!! I'm mostly back on my feet but still taking it pretty easy. Let's hope that's done soon though because it's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend and I definitley don't want to miss out! Today, I'm excited to be sharing this beautiful space with you (hello, dream home!) which was designed by Monika Hibbs for York Homes in Langley. Martin & I are toying with the idea of painting our space all white, adding wide plank hardwood and pops of colour - this space is perfect inspiration! I'm especially fond of the light furniture paired with the dark floors and that fantastic gallery wall. Swooning!

If you've done a home tour on your blog recently, please leave a link. I'd love to take a peek! xo

  5. White with pops of color is my absolute favorite for home decor! I think it just makes the room feel so open, clean, and modern. I hope you and Martin do try it even if it's just a few rooms at a time :)

  6. That is so amazing. I love the little side tables, so rustic almost look like wood!

  7. You know how much I love an all white home, V - and ours is getting there, but sometimes the process seems like a lot of work. These photos were just the boost of inspiratino that I needed today! Wishing you the happiest of Wednesdays, my friend :)

  8. As you know, I'm a huge fan of white spaces too, dearest V...when you live in a condo with limited windows, a lot of white is a great way to make smallish rooms feel bigger and brighter!! My husband and I even removed the textured finish from our ceilings and repainted them...and voila!! They suddenly felt higher!! P.S. So glad you're on the mend in time for Thanksgiving!! XOXO

  9. Hey Veronika! Glad to hear you're feeling better. Victor and I just moved into our new apartment, which we painted ourselves along with my mother. We ended up with a white living room with one pale blue contrast wall. I really think that contrast wall is necessary because it makes the space look bigger somehow? So maybe you'd want to do a contrast wall in your place - I mean, it could even be log effect wallpaper?! - I'm only saying this because I think a 100% white room would drive me, personally, a bit insane... ;) Good luck with it all anyway!
I'm planning on doing a bit of a "check out our new home" post when it's all done, at the moment it is soooo not, haha! But I can drop you a line then, if you wanna see? (I'm putting up little sneak peeks on my insta now, though!)

  10. Agreed! If we do go all white then we'd probably do a light grey damask wall paper on one of our walls. Plus, we have lots of art & photos to help add some colour! :) And yay, can't wait to see your home tour... I'll be watching my bloglovin' feed closely - excited!! xo

  11. The ceilings are everything, we were lucky to find a unit on the top floor with over-height ceilings and it makes all the difference. Not sure I could go back! ;) And impressed you guys removed your textured finish - it's a big job right?! Happiest (almost) Thanksgiving lovey... hope yours is splendid!! xo

  12. Agreed, it's so much work. We're thinking of hiring someone to do it... or I might just do it while Martin's at work. When I set my mind on something, haha, watch out! ;) And curious? How did you guys pick your white... I'm finding it a bit daunting finding the right white to match our carpet! There are so many white colours to choose from!! xo

PS - your post will be up on Friday a million thank you's!! <3

  13. I know, right?!!! Thanksgiving is so my favourite and Martin's mom is an amazing cook, so I definitley don't want to miss out. But... I'm still eating dry toast and soup - say a little prayer for me! And I hear ya, it was so hard in my college student years, I was just happy to have decent/newish furniture! Have a great day, Linda! xo

  14. It really does give a beautiful and modern feel doesn't it? I'm sitting down with an interior designer in the next weekish and can't wait to see what she comes up with for our space. I'm finding it kind of overwhelming picking the right white... so many different under tones. Oh man! Hope your day is super, Kate!! xo

  15. Totally, white furniture is definitley a fair bit more upkeep. We scotch guard ours and have it professionally cleaned every two years... otherwise, oh my gosh with two pets, it would look pretty bad!! xo

  17. I used to be a total hater of white walls, but the older I get the more I love them. With contrasting furniture, or the all-white rooms... so gorgeous! And I love love LOVE the tree wallpaper in that one dining room! I need a room with tree wallpaper.
