everyday moments

Aug 29, 2013

This week, I've been inspired to pull out my camera and capture everyday moments. Photography has always been my favourite medium for expressing myself, and it's my intention to start doing it a little more often. I feel like there's a certain magic that exists in finding something special in what would otherwise be an ordinary moment. I love seeking out subtle details, a certain mood and working with natural light. I must admit, I often catch myself daydreaming about traveling the world and documenting it all with my camera. Wouldn't that be the life?!...

Other than that, our week has been blissfully slow... we've had a few lately, not complaining. Martin's been enjoying his last week off before returning to work. The weather has been perfectly drizzly and cool. We've spent our mornings reading our favourite novels, drinking peppermint tea and listening to jazz. Our usual view of evergreens have been ever so slightly covered in fog. Picture perfect, really. And yesterday we celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary (we've been together for 15)... I'll be sure to post about our day soon. xo

18 sweet notes:

  1. First of all, wishing a very happy anniversary to Martin and to you - you're such a fantastic couple and I know you're going to have so many more years of happiness together :) Secondly, travelling around the world photographing everything? Sounds pretty much like the life to me! But then again, based on these photos, it looks like you have it pretty good right where you are. Looking forward to seeing you so, so soon!

  3. Happy Anniversary! Your mornings together sounds like perfection - I can't wait for my hubby to get home from the band's tour so we can do the same! :) I love your photos too. Capturing little bits and pieces of life through photography is one of my favorite activities as well. xoxo

  6. That does sound as near to perfection as you can get. :)

I feel the same way about photography. It's a great way to remember the every day moments, and I love capturing the many little details that make up a day.

  7. Happy anniversary! I'm a bit envious of your weather there. The heat in LA is peaking at the moment. Okay I'll be honest, I'm really envious of your weather there.

  8. i know what you mean V. there's really no comparison between what the eye sees as opposed to a view through the lens. i get such a kick out of how various camera angles can completely morph the look of something and make it into an artistic expression. you've done just that here, these pics are so beautiful and moody!

glad to hear things have slowed down a few clicks and seeing M in the lounge posish makes me smile. that guy works so darned hard he deserves many lay back times with Scout ...and YOU!!

happiest anniversary wishes you guys! much love sent your way. xo

  16. Happy belated wedding anniversary, and WOW fifteen years?! Amazing, congratulations! It makes our three pale in comparison! ;) You take beautiful pictures V, you really do. I especially like the pop of colour in that last one and the unusual focus, and the blank and white one of your hands and hair. I don't know why but I really like to see photos like this because I feel like I get to you know YOU better - up close things like that make it feel as though we're having coffee with you and I really enjoy that in a post. :)
