This month, creative transformation and a resurgence of inspiration have been hitting me hard. Perhaps, in tune with spring's soon to be arrival, my own creative buds are slowly preparing for bloom! I’m currently and excitedly writing a post for the lovely Jenny Highsmith of Maidae on pursuing your dreams. I'll admit, writing, has always been a bit of a stranger in the room for me. However, I’m slowly taking steps to familiarize myself with it, and learn more. I’ve committed my mornings to “free writing” where I let it all flow, without hesitation and without judgement - it’s proved to be an amazing exercise. Not just for writing but also for instilling a sense of faith & trust in my own creative process.

Trust can be hard. Kind of like, if you’re giving a speech and you over prepare out of nervousness. It can end up feeling stifled, and out of the moment. As of late, my new motto is to under-prepare. Arriving at the next creative destination, feeling open to inspiration and in-tune with the uniqueness of the moment. I'm learning there is so much magic in the spontaneous, if, we can just let ourselves be! Seeking truth definitley makes life sweeter! xo

29 sweet notes:

  6. The process of learning to under-prepare is such a tough one - I'm still working on it, myself - but I completely agree with what you are saying about it, V. Creativity often comes with a healthy dose of Type A-ness, but it takes overcoming that to truly get to where you're at your best. I'm excited to see where this creative journey takes you. But in the meantime, I am swooning over your dress. So pretty! Happy Monday! So looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

  13. Your outfit is adorable, that dress! I love what you said about writing, it is something that I struggle with. It is hard to put thoughts into words sometimes. I might have to borrow your free writing exercise idea, perhaps that will help. Thank you for the lovely comment you left on my blog and for checking out my little Etsy shop. I hope you will come back and visit!

  16. Well girl, I always appreciate your writing and what a great metaphor! Your creativeness will be coming as soon as you're out of hibernation from this shit weather! :) And it must be said, this outfit is styled perfectly. I love the layers, casual, but feminine vibe. You're gorg.

  17. You look beautiful! And I think that to a degree, underpreperation is key to being creatively open. Or just open in general! This is something I am learning. xo

  18. i LOVE the way you put together outfits- those boots just tied the whole thing together. and i sometimes have a tough time just writing freely, too. that first draft is always the hardest for me- i'm a bit of a perfectionist and want to get my sentences just *so* and get hung up on things that in the end stifle me. this post definitely encouraged me to take it a little more easy :)

  19. I used to be an over-preparer. Afraid of judgement I was. Since college however, I just made sure I knew the essentials of my (class) presentations and then went for it! It made me feel less stressed and more in control, and I've received so much positive feedback from others about it too! I'm also feeling something for your free writing experiment. Maybe I can give it a try too!

I absolutely adore your outfit. That dress looks amazing on you, and it has such a lovely pink shade. You'll get lots of wears from it in the Springtime ^^ xo

  24. Frustrating when you're feeling absolutely uncreative and uninspired. I hate those feelings. And as much as I am sick of all things winter right now - I very much love this outfit and how you winterized a floral dress! Well done!
