This week, I've started a detox diet which I'm excited to share with you. After feeling fatigued and a little off the last few weeks, I decided it was time for a cleanse. It's the perfect way to reset the system and give your digestion a rest. I'm focusing on fruits, veggies, and lots of natural foods... and avoiding things like: diary, wheat, gluten, sugar, soy, coffee, alcohol, fried + processed foods. When it comes to exercise (during a cleanse) I avoid anything too strenuous and stick to walks & restorative yoga. Also, I wouldn't recommend doing the detox for much longer than 14 days. Here's a look at what I'm eating. I'm already feeling so much better for it!
What I'm eating:Breakfast: quinoa, mangos, raw almonds, almond milk + a cup of organic white tea... amazingly healthy and great for helping heal inflammation in the body.
Lunch: veggie broth, lentils, assorted steamed veg, yams, fresh ginger and garlic. So good for you!
Snack: organic apples and raw almond butter.
Dinner: quinoa, assorted beans, yams, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and garlic. No fancy recipe here, just mix all your ingredients in a bowl and then toss with extra virgin olive oil + garnish with avocado.

* please note: you should consult your doctor before making any significant dietary changes.

I've never done a cleanse, I must admit - I tend to eat very healthily during the week when Ian is at work at I cook for myself... of course, on the weekend when he's home it's another story, but the way I look at it, the weekdays are my cleanse time and the weekends are fun time. It actually works pretty well :) And I'm always looking for easy healthy recipes for when I have to cook for myself, so I'm definitely going to be checking out the daily detox menu - thanks for sharing, V!

YUM! I did something like this for a few days, lots of green tea, chia seeds, kale etc. but then got busy and stopped. I need to get back on it again though! For a delicious meal try vegan pepperjack cheese, organic black/kidney beans, quinoa or brown rice, organic salsa and a bit of cayenne pepper. So good and good for you!

DeleteHello Veronika,
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased for the change; I did like your previous blog but, as a person who lives a green lifestyle and do not shop at all and use only secondhand clothes and recycle like made, I didn't love your previous blog either.
I salute you for the new change, barva, brava :)
Kind Regards
Cyrene

ReplyDeleteI actually just launched my own blog TODAY. I would really love it if you checked it out.
