A few highlights, thoughts & happenings from my week:
Hitting the gym: I'm thrilled my health has stabilized enough for me to head back to the gym. It's been almost a year. Can you believe it? Martin & I are lucky to live in a condo with two gorgeous gyms and a pool + hot tub, which makes working out easy and convenient. Thank goodness! The plan is to work out every other day and either power walk or do yoga on non-gym days. I hope to get into killer shape this year... I've always admired girls that are super toned & fit, so why not make it a goal?!
Downtime: Yes, I'm a computer junkie and online far too often. Lately, I'm trying to scale back by scheduling more conscious pockets of time for myself as well as finding more meaningful things to do with that time. So, I've started reading, doing more photography and I'm working on a couple DIY home projects.
Writing: I used to be an avid writer and I'd love to get back into that groove. Several years ago, I did The Artists Way and one of their recommended daily exercises was to write out your unedited stream of thoughts first thing each morning. It's meant to help you get in touch with your artist as well as your creative process. I'd love to make that a part of my morning routine again.
Eating: My eating habits have been a little... meh. I'm eating at restaurants far too often and I'm missing my usual home cooked meals. So this week, I'm getting strict with myself and
getting back on the healthy eating bandwagon. My favourite meals this
week are: raw almond butter & gluten free toast for breakfast;
lentil, quinoa + veggie soup for lunch; and gluten-free pasta with
tomatoes, tofu & cheese for dinner. Mmmmm!
Working on: Several new necklaces for the shop. I'm introducing a few silver ones,
long ones and a few beaded varieties too + I'm working on expanding
the shop's bracelet collection. Can't wait to share the new styles with you guys! I'm also planning on hosting another Stella & Dot
jewelry party at my home later this month and hoping to do an online one
too. I'll keep you posted!

It sounds like you've got your work cut out for you in the next little while, V! It's great to hear that your health has improved enough to get back to the gym, I'm sure you're going to be feeling so much more energetic that you'll easily be able to accomplish all of the goals on this list :)

I haven't worked out in almost a year because I was lazy during my pregnancy...so I started working out and make sure you take it slow because you can injure yourself.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I've been working on similar goals for the summer, and I finally feel like I'm getting into my groove and creating long-term habits.

You've got lots going on! Love you health and fitness goals. How wonderful that you have a gym in your building. Loving the doggy and kitty pics, as always. :)
ReplyDeleteyups, Scout's got game - whether chillaxing at home on his own turf or out exploring the "wilds". he's always got swagger and then some!! seeing Pumpkin pop up a couple times is always a happiness for me. that little drool-babe is lookin' good. as are you guys! Veronika, the treatment of your photographs is just lovely. it's such a soft dusting - like they are swathed in ethereal beauty.
ReplyDeleteoi, the gym is a place i haven't stepped foot in for far too long but glad to hear you 2 are getting into a swell routine. with home cooked meals, consciously unplugging and that interesting writing exercise i'd say you're on your way to absolute bliss lades. can't wait to hear more about these uplifting plans...phone call tomorrow sound good? 'bout 5?
i loved seeing part 2 of your time with Mom, so many awesome photo memories there!! xo ♥
I need to work out more as well (no, truth be told, I need to start working out at least a little bit!) and I think I'm going to make it a goal too, put it on my everyday "to-do" list and feel the satisfaction of checking it off my list at the end of each day...love the idea, very motivating! (that and these girls you talked about...I want to be super toned and fit as well!)
ReplyDeleteAnd as far as the writing goes I think it's a wonderful morning routine to get back to Veronika, I wish I could do the same but my schedule is a little too tight in the morning since getting my motivation for going to work is taking most of my time at that moment ;-)
Have a lovely weekend dear!

You know hon, it's cool that you've got all these goals planned and set out, but with regards to exercising, maybe you shouldn't be quite so hard on yourself? I mean, if you force yourself into routines like that, it might be easier to slip out of them because they become too overwhelming, you know? Also, you wouldn't want to injure yourself by going at it too hard! Just my two loonies' worth! (Hah! Do you even say that in Canada?) Good luck with it all, anyway! ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, your two furballs are adorable! I'm so impressed that they get along well enough to just lie there next to each other and chill. Did you raise them both together, or what's your secret?!
SO many kitty pictures! :D Crazy cat lady here, ha!
ReplyDeleteKudos to you hitting up the gym, I've never stepped foot in one.
Lving your photography here my love!
